Meet the Founder
Built from the Field. Driven by Truth. Accountability is in Session.
My entry into the affordable housing sector wasn't accidental—it was forged through personal survival and enterprise-level execution.
When automated, debt-based algorithm screening biases threatened my own family’s housing security, I didn't back down. I used California’s SB 267 to protect my children, verify our mixed income—spanning state disability, public assistance, and my boutique baking business—and secure our keys. I learned firsthand that the traditional screening process is fundamentally broken, blind to human reality, and entirely exposed to massive legal liabilities.
Entering the workforce, I spent years deep in the trenches of enterprise property management for industry giants like Solari Enterprises and FPI Management. I quickly became the specialist called upon to jump from asset to asset—tackling messy audits, turning around failing vacancies, and building custom operational training models from scratch.
But as I climbed the corporate ladder, I witnessed a glaring, systemic gap. While major corporations prioritized top-line revenue to satisfy institutional investors, the actual residents and ground-level leasing staff were left stranded by a severe lack of structured training, leadership, and true duty of care. I watched corporate entities strip away Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) portfolios overnight and saw my own training modules used without credit to shield corporate liabilities.
I realized you cannot change a broken system from the inside when the system itself refuses to adapt. So, I stepped out to become The Source.
Why I Created Chantis Johnson Consulting & The Safe Haven Act
Most real estate agents, brokers, and property owners operate on a rigid, outdated pass/fail metrics loop: Credit score, W2, approved or denied. They are fundamentally blind to the heavily protected local and federal laws designed to shield qualified families. This systemic ignorance doesn't just alienate excellent residents—it costs owners and brokerages thousands, and even millions, once the law steps in.
My proprietary Safe Haven Act screening application and service platform are built for the entire housing industry. We don't say skip the background record; we say look at the whole picture, utilize a performance-based stewardship rubric, and make a sound business decision.
We cannot call ourselves housing professionals while turning away qualified individuals simply because we refuse to do our duty of care. I am here to educate, to train, to mitigate risk, and to install absolute accountability for everyone involved.
Housing is a right. The old way of operating is over. Let's build a compliant, stable, and dignified future for your portfolio.
